Abstract
The MT6305BN/CY is a power management system chip optimized for GSM handsets, especially those
based on the MediaTek MT62xx system solution. It contains seven LDOs, one to power each of the critical
GSM sub-blocks. The integrated LDOs are designed for low power and low noise, such as Va and Vtcxo.
Vcore, Vrtc, Vm and Vsim provide alternative output voltages for system design flexibility. Sophisticated
controls are available for power -up during battery charging, keypad interface, and RTC alarm.
The MT6305 is optimized for maximum battery life, featuring a ground current of only 108µA and 187µA
when the phone is in standby and operation respectively. For battery charging, the MT6305 can be used
with lithium ion (Li+) and nickel metal hydride (NiMH) batteries. It contains three open-drain output switches
for LED, alerter and vibrator control. The SIM interface provides the level shift between SIM card and mi-
croprocessor.
In addition, MT6305 provides other features including current limiting, under voltage lock-out protection,
deep discharge lockout protection and over temperature protection.
MT6305BN/CY is offered in 48-pin QFN package. The tiny size and low profile reduce the required board
area and increase the power density of the whole power system design.
